Visiting a Dog Café in Seoul: A Friendly Guide to Mungdolphin in Gangnam
Dog cafés are one of Seoul's most loved little experiences — and for travelers who miss their own pets, an hour with a pile of fluffy pups can be the best part of the trip. This guide walks you through visiting Mungdolphin (멍돌핀), a cozy small-dog café in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam.
What is Mungdolphin?
The name comes from the Korean phrase “멍때리며 솟아나는 엔돌핀” — roughly, “the endorphins that rise when you zone out.” The café was made so that dogs and people can both relax. It is a café, a play room for dogs, a dog kindergarten, a dog hotel and a grooming salon, all on the 2nd floor of one building near Sinnonhyeon Station.
Can I visit without a dog?
Yes. Visitors without dogs are welcome to come in and spend time with the café's friendly resident dogs. Recent visitors on Google describe the dogs as playful and well taken care of, and the staff as kind and attentive.
Dog café etiquette (please read!)
- Let the dogs come to you. Sit down on the floor and wait — curious pups will say hello.
- Don't feed them anything, and please don't bring outside food in.
- No picking up dogs without asking a staff member first.
- No flash photos. Natural light makes better pictures anyway.
- Gentle voices, and let sleeping dogs sleep. 😴
- Wash or sanitize your hands before and after playing.
Bringing your own dog?
Mungdolphin is a small-dog café. Dogs 10 kg and over and some breeds (such as Welsh Corgi, French Bulldog, Jindo and Shiba Inu) cannot enter. Small dogs can use the play room by the hour (from ₩3,000 per hour for dogs under 5 kg). See the full price list.
